Shipments and returns

Goods are shipped via Australia Post or our nominated courier (depending on the size & quantity of the goods).

Shipping fees include handling and packing fees as well as postage costs.

Please inspect your goods immediately upon delivery and report any damaged or missing items to us immediately. 

Returns

Change of mind / no longer needed / found cheaper alternatives else  returns

We want you to love the products you buy from Madee’s. If you change your mind, you may return the product to us within 30 days of the date you received it and we will issue you with a store credit. Where exceptions apply, customers are notified on the product display page. Note, change of mind returns are different to returning a product under the Australian Consumer Law or CGA if the product is faulty.

For returns due to a change of mind / no longer needed / found cheaper alternatives else  return, you will be responsible for all associated shipping and handling costs, including any applicable taxes or duties. This applies regardless of any free, discounted, or promotional shipping offer that may have been included with your original order.

This includes:

  • The original shipping cost we incurred to send the product to you (e.g., if you paid $35 for shipping, this amount will not be refunded).
  • The cost of returning the item to us, which you must cover.
  • A restocking fee of 5% of the original purchase price, which helps cover the expenses related to handling and repacking the returned product.

Products returned for change of mind reasons must be in ‘as-new’ condition and packaged securely in the original packaging. This means you have not used, assembled, damaged, washed or laundered any of the products.

  Important Notes:
  • Heating & Lighting Recommendations: We do not recommend using small ceramic heat emitters or UVA+UVB light bulbs, as they can be unsafe for your reptile. These can overheat easily, posing a risk of injury. Safer alternatives include radiant heat panels, basking bulbs, heat projector bulbs, or spot basking bulbs. Our enclosures are well-insulated, so you’ll need a lower wattage bulb than you would use in a glass tank. We also recommend inspecting your enclosure, heating, and lighting sources weekly to ensure everything is functioning properly. If you choose to use ceramic heat lamps and UVA+UVB bulbs, always use protective mesh and ensure the wattage does not exceed 25 watts.
General Cage Care:
  • Avoid Stacking: Do not stack objects on top of your enclosure, as they are not designed to be used as shelves or tables.
  • Cleaning: Clean your enclosure with a mild reptile-safe soap and lukewarm water, using a soft cloth. Always rinse thoroughly with clean water.  Be sure to rinse the cloth or sponge frequently and change the cleaning water often. Avoid using razor blades, scrapers, squeegees, or brushes, as they may damage the enclosure.
Safety Tips: Pet owners often overlook safety when caring for reptiles. While reptiles are generally low-maintenance pets, their safety is just as crucial as that of dogs or cats. Since reptiles spend most, if not all, of their time in their enclosure, it’s essential to make that environment comfortable and safe. Heating elements, lights, rocks, and plants are vital accessories but can also present potential hazards. Here are some safety tips to keep in mind when setting up your reptile’s enclosure:
  1. Safe Terrarium Setup:
  • Choose decorations like rocks and plants with smooth surfaces to avoid injury. Sharp edges can easily cut or scrape your reptile.
  • Protective Mesh: Always use protective mesh around heat lamps and light bulbs to prevent burns and injuries to your pet.
  1. Preventing Escapes:
As a responsible reptile keeper, it’s your job to prevent escapes. If a reptile manages to get out of its enclosure, it can be exposed to significant risks, including injury from other pets or the dangers of getting lost in your home. Snakes, in particular, are notorious escape artists. They don’t need much of an opening to get out, and they will continually search for one. To minimize the risk of escapes, we strongly recommend using sliding door glass locks to securely close the enclosure.
